During the 172-run partnership, Sarfaraz Khan commendably supported Yashasvi Jaiswal, contributing with a brisk 68 off just 72 balls.

In the pursuit of a daunting target of 557 runs, England found themselves in dire straits on Day 4 of the fourth Test against India in Rajkot. The visiting team stumbled early, losing four wickets for less than 30 runs on the scoreboard, with Ravindra Jadeja claiming two crucial scalps. Jasprit Bumrah joined the attack, grabbing another wicket for India, while Ben Duckett, who impressed with a century in the first innings, fell victim to a run-out. Buoyed by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s exceptional double century, India declared their second innings at 430/4, leaving England with the formidable task of chasing down 557 runs for victory.

Jaiswal, who had retired hurt on Day 3, made a remarkable return to the crease on Day 4, adding another 110 runs to his previous score of 104 on Saturday. The 22-year-old showcased his prowess with 14 fours and 12 sixes, concluding his innings unbeaten on 214.

Following Shubman Gill’s dismissal, falling short of his century by nine runs after being run out on 91, Jaisal and Sarfaraz Khan formed an unbroken partnership of 172 runs for the fifth wicket.

During the partnership, Sarfaraz played a supporting role to Jaiswal, scoring a brisk 68 off 72 balls.

Sarfaraz’s appreciation for Jaiswal’s performance was evident as he encouraged the young player to lead the way back to the dressing room following Rohit Sharma’s declaration just before Tea.

Witness the touching moment here:

Jaiswal reached the milestone of 200 runs by taking a single off Joe Root during the second session in Rajkot.

Following his achievement, he removed his helmet, kissed the India logo, and raised both arms in acknowledgment to the enthusiastic Sunday crowd, who responded with a standing ovation.

At the age of 22, Jaiswal has been in exceptional form, particularly after his match-winning 209 in the second Test, propelling him to the top of the batting chart in the ongoing five-match series with over 500 runs to his name.

This remarkable performance comes in only his seventh match and 12th innings since his career began last year with a debut knock of 171 in the West Indies.

While Sarfaraz completed his second fifty of the match following his 62 in the first innings, it was Jaiswal who dominated the bowlers with his blistering 236-ball innings.

Jaiswal unleashed a flurry of aggression against pace bowler James Anderson, dispatching him for three consecutive boundaries over the fence — a rare feat against the England veteran, who boasts an illustrious career spanning 185 Tests over 21 years.
