The Legends League Cricket (LLC) match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants on Wednesday sparked controversy as a heated on-field altercation unfolded between former India cricketers Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth. The incident transpired after Sreesanth, conceding 20 runs in the first two overs, engaged in a verbal exchange with Gambhir during his third over. The situation escalated when Sreesanth accused Gambhir of using offensive language, including labeling him a ‘fixer,’ prompting intervention from others to defuse the tension.

Though the exact words uttered by Gambhir remained unclear, Sreesanth vented his frustration on the stump mic and shared details during a live session on his Instagram handle. He disclosed that Gambhir repeatedly referred to him as a ‘fixer’ on live television at the center wicket. Sreesanth asserted that he responded with a sarcastic laugh and refrained from using offensive language himself. However, he highlighted that Gambhir directed disrespectful language at the umpires when they tried to intervene.

Sreesanth, who had previously faced a life ban from the BCCI’s disciplinary committee in connection with the IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal, reiterated his commitment to truth and sought support for his version of events. Dismissing claims that Gambhir said ‘sixer, sixer,’ Sreesanth insisted that the actual words were ‘you fixer, tu fixer hai’ (you are a fixer). Despite expressing a desire to move on from the incident, Sreesanth cautioned against falling for any orchestrated PR attempts to salvage Gambhir’s image.

In response, an hour after Sreesanth’s live session, Gambhir shared a picture on social media in the Indian jersey with a caption emphasizing the importance of maintaining composure despite attention-seeking behavior.

In a subsequent Instagram live session, Sreesanth addressed Gambhir as “Mr. Fighter” and accused him of consistently picking fights with colleagues without provocation. Sreesanth claimed that Gambhir lacked respect for senior players, including Virender Sehwag, and reiterated that he was not at fault in the altercation. He pledged to reveal the details of what Gambhir said, emphasizing that the words spoken on the cricket field were unacceptable. Sreesanth expressed determination to share the truth with the public, highlighting the support he received during his previous battles.
