Yesterday, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was fatally shot by three individuals who had recently shared tea with him, as revealed by CCTV footage.

Jaipur: In the wake of the tragic shooting death of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, a prominent Rajput leader and head of the fringe group Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, his supporters have called for a Rajasthan bandh today. Gogamedi was fatally shot by three men who had recently shared tea with him in his Jaipur residence, as revealed by CCTV footage.

Rohit Godara, a gangster closely linked to the factions led by Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, has claimed responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post.

Gogamedi, along with two of his associates, sustained gunshot wounds in the assault. They were swiftly transported to a hospital, where medical professionals pronounced Gogamedi dead. During a subsequent gunfight, one of the assailants was also shot dead by Gogamedi’s aides, according to the police.

The shocking murder of the Rajput leader has triggered widespread protests in Rajasthan, a state currently undergoing a political transition after the BJP triumphed over the Congress in the recent assembly elections. Supporters obstructed the Shipra Path road outside the hospital, insisting on the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. Beyond Jaipur, demonstrations flared up in Churu, Udaipur, Alwar, and Jodhpur districts.

Rajasthan police chief Umesh Mishra stated that authorities are currently conducting raids on potential hideouts of the accused and appealed for calm.

In 2015, Gogamedi established the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena after parting ways with the Rajput Karni Sena, then under the leadership of Lokendra Singh Kalvi. Both factions had previously protested against the 2018 film ‘Padmaavat,’ alleging that it distorted historical facts related to the Rajput community.
